Something else I carried on where my father left of. During the war everyone was encouraged to grow their own food as much as possible. And my father became quite expert at it. We not only ate a lot of what he grew, we also picked wild fruits in the autumn. So I was brought up on eating fresh vegetables and fruit. I didn’t have my own garden till I moved to Banbury, here I had a plot of land at the Friends meeting house as well as our back garden for food growing. This was continued in the even larger garden at Mablethorpe., where we had a ¼ acre, and produced quite a bit of fruit and veg, some of which was fed to the guests that we had at our Vegetarian Guest house. In our present garden we have been filling a few plates of food, mainly in summer and Autumn from our own organic produce.
