WHAT I COLLECT. Like most people I started out collecting any stamps that were different from all over the world. I had a small album with a page for most countries, as that got overcrowded I obtained a Strand album, that too started to get overcrowded in certain pages, but there were spare pages at the back. It soon became obvious that one couldn’t collect all countries. So I then collected GB & the Commonwealth. So all my stamps from the rest of the world were sold or swapped. Then this too became and obvious impossibility. So I narrowed it down to GB and the Independent commonwealth (Canada, Australia, New Zealand, ) I also decided to add Nepal, as it had issued hardly any stamps. Nepal is still I believe the country that issues the least new stamps on average. I have now dropped Canada and Australia as both were getting too prolific. New Zealand is now following suit but I am keeping that going. New stamp issuing areas have been Guernsey, Jersey, & IOM. I used to collect everything from these but they too became too prolific, and I now only get their definitives. I have also recently added Aland, and Ireland, Burma/Myanmar and Bolivia. To my list. I have dropped out of collecting QV & E7R GB, though I have kept my 1d Black & 2d Blue and a Mulready cover. I also collect any GB stamps which have been overprinted. In addition I collect envelopes addressed to me from every country in the world. I have only about a third of these so far. I also collect Cinderella material, stamp-like souvenirs mainly from stamp exhibitions but anything that I fancy. My greatest specialisation though is with Edward 8th stamps (1936). EVEN though there were only 4 issued with his portrait on when he was king. Canada & Newfoundland did issue a few of him when he was Prince of Wales, and the GB series of Postage Due stamps did have his royal cipher in the watermark. Since then a few countries have issued stamps as part of a series of Kings & Queens of England (Barbuda, & Isle of Man to name two). I have branched out into booklets of stamps, the Overprinted issues for Morocco, and Postal History (Stamps on cover posted during his reign). I have also recently amassed a collection of coronation souvenirs that were produced to celebrate his coronation, but it never took place because he abdicated. Plates, medallions, cups, mugs, teapots, dishes, flags, hankies, calendars, maps teacloths, cigarette cards, badges etc. These can be seen in the Webshots albums There are links to some of my collections here. These are mainly collections that I have entered in Scarborough and Yorkshire Philatelic organisations.
